The city of hibiscus is just a short drive south on US 41 across the Peace River Bridge. There you may:


CHARLOTTE HARBOR & PORT CHARLOTTE

  • Tropical Bay Inn is conveniently located across from the Charlotte Historical Center where artist, historical exhibits and also classes such as pine needle weaving are offered.
  • The Historical Center is a part of the new Bayshore Live Oak Park with biking, and walking paths, fishing pier, picnic tables and restrooms, etc.

  • Interested in learning about our aquatic habitat - visit the Charlotte Harbor Environment Center They offer wading trips from several locations
  • Port Charlotte Beach Recreation Center is about a 2 mile drive and has a beach, fishing pier, pool, picnic area, tennis courts, etc. This beach is on Charlotte Harbor
  • The Charlotte Sports Park connects to Tippecanoe Environmental Park and will become the entrance to walking trails, a boardwalk and a canoe/kayak launch. Charlotte Sports Park is located on S.R. 776 which offers easy access from U.S. 41 The Sports Park will also be Tampa Bay Devil Rays Spring Training camp in 2009.
  • For shopping visit the Port Charlotte Town Center Mall about a 10 minute drive on US 41 north
  • Cultural Center of Charlotte County has facilities that include a Theater that seats over 500 and presents plays, concerts and a variety of other offerings. There is also affordable shopping in 3 stores: Trash & Treasure, The Gift Shop and The Country Store


ENGLEWOOD

Englewood is about 30 miles west of Port Charlotte on the Gulf of Mexico.

  • Chadwick Park/Englewood Beach - swim in the Gulf of Mexico, enjoy the boardwalk, picnic shelters, etc.

  • Explore Old Englewood and enjoy quaint shops, great food and the regular events held on Dearborn St - Saturday Night Live and Cruizin' on Dearborn

  • Lemon Bay Park 570 Bay Park Boulevard, 941-473-3065 Visit the butterfly garden, picnic sites and nature trails at this park located on Lemon Bay, north of Dearborn Street in Olde Englewood.

ARCADIA

  • The Nav-A-Gator Grill is an "old Florida" fish camp style restaurant. Located just 3 miles east of I-75 just off of Kings Highway in Lake Suzy, FL. Also on the property is a Pioneer Village, museum, marina, etc.

  • Antique fair -- Arcadia's Antique Association holds an antique fair all day on the fourth Saturday of the month in downtown Arcadia. For more information on the antique fair, call 863-494-2038.

  • If you are here at the right time you will be able to see the Arcadia Rodeo. Many other events are also held at the Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo grounds. So check the events calendar at the website.
